＂大約在987年末或988年初，弗拉基米爾·斯維亞托斯拉維奇受洗禮成為基督教徒，並與安娜公主正式結婚。這時安娜27歲，弗拉基米爾大約30歲出頭。他選擇瓦西里為自己的教名，以對自己的姻兄巴西爾二世皇帝表示敬意（「瓦西里」是希臘語名字巴西爾的斯拉夫語讀法）。在婚禮結束之後，他與妻子帶著數名東正教教士及一些聖像和法器返回羅斯。

由於意識到宗教信仰對鞏固封建制度的有利性，弗拉基米爾·斯維亞托斯拉維奇立刻開始強制推行基督教。他規定基督教（這裡實際上是東正教）為羅斯的國教，命令人民必須信仰。在他回到基輔之後，便下令所有基輔市民在第聶伯河中接受拜占庭教士的洗禮，並把多神教的神像投入河中。很快在羅斯其它主要居民點也都發生了人民受洗、搗毀異教神像的事件。這一歷史事件稱為「羅斯受洗」。＂-維基百科
